That 'damned crazy immigrant' could've very well married an American woman, engaged in completely sane sex, infected her and infected the children. The kids could've gone and married and infected their spouses that infected their children that infected their own spouses and such forth. Of course, along that line, the children themselves probably had sex with more than one person. And that more than one person had sex with another set of people and all those people had sex with their own set of people. And it spread on and on. We can't just automatically think that just 'coz that immigrant had HIV and started the epidemic in America, s/he was an immoral crazed sex addict.
And I thought the common belief was that it was a disease started by gay white guys. It being carried over from Haiti is quite..different...
